When Wally first arrived in Rome, he was unsure of how he would adapt to the new environment. The jump from Ottawa to Rome was drastic. This was the first time he was outside of North America as well. The VHLE would be the start of something new for Wally. A new team, a new league, a fresh start. Being a new player on the team isn't always easy.

"Coming out of training camp, I was told I would be practicing with the top line. I felt honored. I knew it would be a lot of work to stay on that line. I worked every day with my linemates to build chemistry. But it seems that it was all for nothing. I feel like I'm on a deserted island whenever I'm on the ice."

18 games into the season and the transition has not been kind to Wally Lose and the Rome Gladiators. Wally was put onto the first line after training camp and had a lot of expectations. To say he has not been meeting them is an understatement. He only has 4 goals and 2 assists in those 18 games. The chemistry that was being built in the training camp has vanished. Nothing seems to be clicking for Wally on the team. What does this mean for Wally, for the future of Rome?

"I'm frustrated and disappointed in myself. 6 points in 18 games on the first line is not going to cut it. I'm going to have to take a step back and re-evaluate my standings with the team. If it means being demoted, I guess, I'll do whatever it takes for the team to start winning again. I'm going to be talking to my coaches to see where they see me fitting in better moving forward. If the extreme measure is to be traded, so be it. Something's got to give here. I'll do whatever is right for the team."

Is Rome the right fit for Wally? Would a trade work out better for him? The coach / GM will have a lot of work to do to see what will work for Wally and get the team back to their winning ways. It's also still early in the season to be worrying about stats. Rome is currently in a playoff spot, but teams are catching up to them. Wally has to find his groove if he wants to make a big splash in the VHL.
