We are just passing the 1/3 mark for S94 and the standings have been pretty wild the entire way. The Malmo Nighthawks find themselves in familiar territory, leading the league 1st overall after 24 Games Played. They just passed the Calgary Wranglers who have played 25 games already, by 1 point in the standings. They also have to keep their eyes out for a lot of the EU teams such as the London United who are only 2 points back, although the Nighthawks did defeat them in their matchup today.

Let’s talk about the current leadership core- and where better to start than with the forward, Randy Bobandy. The newest “Alternate” Assistant Captain was acquired during the off-season and it seems to be paying off greatly, as he currently leads the team offensively with 34 points (12 goals/22 assists) in 24 games. Malmo has also been looking to their longtime Assistant Captain and star forward, Viktor Jensen, to lead the charge and with 30 points (8 goals/22 assists) in 24 games played- he certainly has been putting in the work to have the 2nd most points on the team at this current moment in time. The other returning Assistant Captain this season, Savaisk Tzesar, has been growing into a force to be feared. He is currently 5th on the team offensively with 24 points (5 goals/19 assists) in 24 games which makes him a point-a-game player. What makes him a “force to be feared” is that he’s doing that- while being 2nd overall league wide in Hits. This beast has 120 hits already, giving Malmo a lot of toughness without giving up offensive production. Lastly we have the on-going Captain and goaltender, Ash Sparks. He started the season really hot, keeping the team in it while they weren’t scoring much. Lately he hasn’t been playing 100% but has still been solid enough to have a 0.922 save% and 2.40 GAA after 21 games played. He had a 0.939 save% a couple days ago, but sadly had a couple of sub-par performances brought down his numbers a bit. Aside from those few rough games, Sparks has been excellent- and boasts a winning record of 16 wins, 3 losses, and 2 OTL’s (16-3-2) with a single shutout in 21 games played so far. Fortunately the timing for those games where Sparks played a little off, came along with the Nighthawks heavily out scoring their opposition. It seems that if everything starts clicking at the same time, we can confirm that the Malmo Nighthawks are still very much so a contender again this season.
