Noodle Enjoyer 201
with about thirty games played in the season I thought I'd take a look at front runners for the Rookie of the year honors in Season 94. I don't know exactly how the winner is typically chosen so this is all just my own personal feelings on who is in the lead at the moment. 1. Riga Reign - Lucy Leitner - The third overall pick of the season 93 draft is my current pick for the lead of the rookie class for this year. The rearguard for the Riga Reign is averaging 31 minutes a game and has looked incredible on both ends of the ice boasting 26 points in 31 games played with eight goals and eighteen assists has her sitting at 20th in defenseman scoring and is in a four-way tie for 8th in defenseman goals and she has been a huge contributor to Riga's solid start to the season and she should only get better from here. 2. Davos HC - Antonia Bucatini - The first overall pick of the season 93 draft and the unanimous favorite to win this award going into the season, I currently have her sitting just barely behind Leitner in this early part of the season. Although she is not leading the race in my eyes her start has been maybe even better than anyone expected currently sitting 30th in league scoring with 36 points in her 30 games played so far with 14 goals and 22 assists she is averaging 30 minutes a game for a struggling Davos squad who will be looking to add another top prospect in the upcoming draft and I'm sure Bucatini will be working even harder the rest of the way to add another award for her trophy case. 3. Calgary Wranglers - David Slezak - The 20th overall pick from the season 91 draft is the biggest surprise for a lot of people this season, and if I did this list even just a couple of days ago I think he would be number one on this list. He has backstopped Calgary to a solid start that saw them sitting atop the North American conference for the first 20 or so games of the season. Slezak has a 19-10-1 record in 30 games and has a solid 0.920 save percentage and a GAA of 2.73 and has 1 shutout so far. Calgary will need him to continue his solid play if they're going to hold on to a playoff position, and it would not shock me if Slezak moves up this list before the end of the season. for a pair of honorable mentions that will be in the discussion for sure near the end of the year are Gul Dukat of the Toronto Legion who has 2 goals and 19 assists as a solid puck moving defenseman, and Gianfranco Del Rocco who currently has 12 goals and 10 assists for the North American conference leading Seattle Bears. With the majority of the season still to go it's any ones guess who will take home the rookie of the year trophy but I'd wager it will be someone on this list. We're getting into the middle of the season now and will see if these young players can keep up the solid pace that they've had so far. LucyXpher 1,588
I really appreciate the shoutout! I still think Bucatini is gonna win this race, but it should be fun heading into the second half of the season! Hope to see Annie Oaks in the mix too! CowboyinAmerica 2,911
Just seeing, appreciate the write up! Also funny because I disagree with you both and think it's Slezak right now for helping Calgary overachieve, but will definitely be interested to see where it goes from here.
