Girts 1,053
Hi we are here today in Vancover with 6'8" 250 poind Wolves star Defenseman Guntis Gavilrovs who with this article will hit 900tpe before his 3rd season in the VHL. It's been an exciting start to his career with over 500 hits and 90 points in his first two seasons, he's on a fantastic pace and is only going to get meaner stronger and more offensive as he enters his prime. We had a chance to catch up with the big Latvian and ask him a few questions.. Hey Guntis how are you feeling about the upcoming season in Vancouver? I feel real good about it, I think we gained a lot of experience last season making it to the 2nd round as a mostly young group. This season we have a great roster again and I think can equal or go deeper than last year. The goal is always to win the cup so that's what I have my sights set on. Oh and to knock as many people over the boards into their own bench as possible, of course. Cool, yeah we remember last year you knocked 5 players into their own bench and 1 through the glass, the fans really love when you do that. What do you have to say to the fans in Vancouver? We have the best fans in the league, we are always sold out and they are so loud it really gets us pumped up. I love when they chant my name after a huge hit. I want to play my best and meanest game every time I step on the ice in front of our fans. They're awesome. Nice, so what can we expect from your game this season and when will you become more offensive and start breaking 60 points? Hey I only played 2 seasons in the VHL so far and I came in a physical defensive dman, so I think hitting 49 points this year and 10 goals was pretty good, but I do plan on ramping it up in the coming seasons. I worked on my shot all off-season with Logan Ninefingers so I think I can hit 15 goals and 60+ points, then even more the next season as I focus on offense. This year I would say expect more defensive dominance, physicality, blocks and an uptick in points, goals and shots. Right on Guntis, well thanks for joining us and good luck in the coming season. Thanks!
