The 95th season of the VHL started earlier this week, and with it come new storylines written during the offseason with the many moves made by the different stakeholders around the league.

One of the more prominent names around the league, at the moment, is the Goncalves surname. The Goncalves family became known around the league when Leandro Goncalves, a now one-time Continental Cup winner and familiar face around the league media, entered the league.

But now he isn’t the most recognizable name. His sister has become a stellar player for his own Calgary Wranglers, and their uncle, Zef, has found himself as the leader of that team. Together, they haven’t been able to bring the same success Leandro helped bring to Calgary, but after an eventful offseason, they seem to be on track to be able to do it sooner rather than later.

On another note, Leandro’s son, Maverick has worked his way into the first overall pick of the S94 VHL draft, and after a couple of seasons in the VHLE, he’s already racking stars in the big league, playing under the title of one of the best prospects to ever enter the league.

It seems like a dynasty is brewing within the Goncalves family.
