Grape 679
As Moscow moves into the offseason after a disappointing early exit in the S95 playoffs, Obuz Schneider Canet du Bocage inks a new contract with the Menace that will take him all the way to the end of his career. It has been an interesting development story for the now veteran blue-liner. Being drafted decently late in the first round, being seen by Moscow as the replacement for Hammar Voss, while the expectations from the rest of the league were not as stellar. Bocage has blossomed into that role, building upon each season, eventually truly coming into form this season, being the only defenseman in the league to break 100 points. Now, he will look to at least maintain that level of play in his final three seasons before hanging it up for good. The French blue-liner was selected 12th overall in the S90 draft, being Moscow’s 3rd selection in the first round, after Axle Gunner and Jarmo Ruutu, and the 4th defenseman selected, after YaBoi Oven, Walter Fitzroy Jr, and Jebediah Big Ol Doinks in Amish. From the draft to now, Bocage has developed to be the 3rd highest rated player in his class, behind Axle Gunner and YaBoi Oven. After spending his draft season in the VHLM, Bocage elected to skip the VHLE and go directly to the big show in S91. Upon arriving to Moscow, Obuz was named the Assistant Captain right off the bat, and has been seen as the leader for the defense group. While early on in his career, he was part of a true one-two balance with Leif Reingaard, now that he has been moved, Bocage stepped in in S95 as the true number one defenseman for the Moscow Menace, with the quick developing Jillian Woods being, while not far, behind him, eventually to be the future Bocage so to speak. As Bocage has improved upon every season, he prepares for the next one as a true veteran. He knows that at this point in his career, he will inevitably begin to regress and his skills become rusty and dull, yet he looks upon these future seasons with Moscow, being the only VHL team he’s played for, and hopes to play for, not with the goal of climbing the mountain of development and reaching a new peak, but with riding the plateau of the peak he has already reached. Bocage has come into his own and reached is true form, and now, his goal is to simply retain that for as long as he can, and remain as a stout leader for the Moscow Menace, hopefully reaching a level in which his jersey hangs from the rafters.
