Moderator Ricer13 2,816 Posted October 1 Moderator Share Posted October 1 With the VHLE folding and Spider Panda ready for the VHL, he has officially made the move to Calgary, Alberta. He is slotted in currently to the be the starting goaltender for the Calgary Wranglers in S96. It is an immense amount of pressure for the rookie but he has been putting in overtime when it comes to training and feels he is ready for the challenge. Spider Panda arrived in Calgary with fellow rookie Phil Sakic where they were picked up by the team staff snd brought to the arena. They spent the day going through their rookie orientations with General Manager Zef Goncalves and Assistant General Manager Daniel Janser. This included meeting room session with the players and managers going through their personal expectations as well as the expectations of the team for the upcoming few seasons. They were then given a tour of the arena, the locker rooms and shown to their stalls. They got to meet a few of their fellow teammates who were brought in to be the rookie mentors. Phil was paired with Leif Reingaard and Panda was paired with Raimo Tuomenin. The mentors took the rookies to the team gym and ran through a few game day routines with them. After the gym, they went and checked out the practice facility where they threw on some gear and went out on the ice to shoot around for a bit. Now that Panda has experienced what it’ll be like in his new home, the GM has asked him to sit down and write out what his expectations of himself are for the upcoming season. Panda has set pretty high expectations for himself going into season 96. His goal is the rookie of the year honours. He will be competing against his team mate Phil Sakic for this, as well as many other up and coming stars. With a little bit of luck and continued work ethic, Panda thinks he has a really good shot. The bare minimum of his expectations is just to not be a detriment to his team. You never know how well a rookie tendy will handle the pressure of playing in the big league so as long as you aren’t losing your team games then you’re doing something right. He will be pushing himself to train at the highest level each week in hopes he can propel himself into elite goalie status as he progresses through his career. With the support of his staff and teammates he is confident that he will achieve his goals. 425 Words Aimee 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/151854-spider-panda%E2%80%99s-rookie-experience/ Share on other sites
