Malmo Acquires Mclflopper

With the acquisition of Isaac Mclflopper in a trade with Helsinki, it would appear that the Malmo Nighthawks have more or less completed their roster heading into S96. The Nighthawks sent Helsinki a conditional pick that, with Mclflopper's recent contract extension, will be a second-rounder.

Mclflopper is coming off of a breakout season where he scored 43 goals and 82 points in Helsinki, after scoring 39 goals and 83 points in his first two seasons combined. He also recorded 191 hits. Mclflopper plays a similar game to that of longtime Nighthawk forward Savaisk Tzesar and should fit in nicely with a quality group of forwards.

The trade and subsequent re-signing leaves Malmo with just $1,000,000 in cap room heading into Free Agency, so it would seem unlikely that further moves are pursued. That means the team will likely head into the season with the same 6 forward, 3 defender configuration they used for much of last season. In what will be star defenseman Jacob Stone's final VHL season, the Nighthawks will give it everything they have to finally break their playoff curse.
