It’s early on in the VHLM season and the Halifax 21st are off to a 2-2-0 start to begin their campaign. The team’s roster is absolutely loaded with first-generation homegrown talent that seems to be leading the way for the team early on.

Third round draft pick and first generation rookie Pelayo Bolivar is leading the team in points to date (1G, 3A, 4P, 4GP) and may be making some general managers regret their hesitancy with his early success, playing a key role in the team’s wins so far, but it doesn’t stop with him. 4th round draft pick Devin Johnson has recorded two assists so far this season, with undrafted defenseman Mikko Tuomala also contributed with two goals so far. These skaters have contributed well to date, but Halifax has also seen the emergence of rookie first-generation netminder Chad Powers, who picked up his first career win recording 31 saves in a 3-2 win over Philadelphia on Thursday.

This young talent has been exciting to watch so far, and should help the team to contend later in the season as they continue to develop.
