R.I.P. Rip

The playoff picture looks good for the Vancouver Wolves, and one player in particular.  Rip Wheeler, @ScottyP, will be in his final games with the Vancouver Wolves.  He’s been a machine for the Wolves.  He was a top scorer when he played as a winger.  During that period of time, Wheeler could be heard saying, “Shooters gotta shoot,” and that is exactly what Wheeler did.

 

Before season 96 started, All-star award winning GM Frank, asked Rip Wheeler to convert to defenseman to help the team at the blue line.  Wheeler didn’t hesitate and rebuilt his tall lanky body into a tough guy, full of steam.  Wheeler continued to dominate as a defender and he contributed greatly to the success of the Wolves.  He frightened many opponents with his fearless approach.  Knocking opponents to the ice, Wheeler could often be heard saying, “Hitters gotta hit.”

 

And now that Wheeler’s career is coming to an end, I am sorry to say this to Wheeler, “R.I.P. Rip Wheeler.”
