Toby Kadachi reflects on season, and forwards to his last three

Recommended Posts

The New York Americans made the season 96 playoffs but bowed out in five games against the Vancouver Wolves who went on to when the cup. At this time Toby Kadachi has not resigned with the Americans so free agency is looking like his destination. He's coming off his best regular season performance with 37 goals, 36 assists for 73 points, his first time finishing above a point per game. His 37 goals is a career high too, just beating out his last season performance. It's been a pretty steady climb for Kadachi, last season he had 71 points, the season before 65 points and the two before that 42 and 43 respectively. Kadachi has been pretty big for the Americans on the power play and game winning goals side as well, having nine game winners last season and eight this season, in both season he got 10 power play goals. His career totals sit at 432 games played, 148 goals scored, 159 assists for 307 points. His games isn't just goals and points though, he's always been known for his toughness, as it stands he sits just 9 penalty minutes away from 1000 and has landed 1704 hits so far. His 443 shots on net are the highest of his career with the previous season he had 372 shots on net and the season before 367. For his career he sits at 1774. His penalty minutes and hits did come down this season from the season prior, likely as Kadachi was depended a bit more on for production for season 96, he went from 245 PIM to 189 which is still the second highest in his career, and his hits came down from 375 to 322 which is his third highest, it's three hits behind the 325 he had in season 94 for the Bears. Wherever Kadachi ends up a franchise is picking up one of the toughest players in the league who can still net you 30 plus goals.

S96 was Kadachi's third time appearing in the post season, and it was his shortest with just the five games, he scored two goals and one assist for three points. He has played 36 games in the post season, netted 11 goals, 8 helpers for 19 points. Kadachi has returned to Russia for the time being to spend time with family as he usually does, some rumours say he might be looking to join a European team for the chance he might feel a little more at home but he's not for sure on that yet, some say he's looking to jump to the NHL but Kadachi has denied that, saying that he would like to play out his full 9 seasons that one can in the VHL. "You only get this one chance to enjoy the VHL and I want to make the most of it." Was his reply, he's eagerly awaiting free agency to open up, he wouldn't tip his hand for what he's thinking but said he his hoping for something specific to happen.
