The Most Wonderful Time of the year. 

There are so many things that go on this time of year that make it a wonderful experience. Personally, I love this time of year because the temperatures in the area I live, are cooler.  I don’t do well in temperatures that make me sweat. That said I know that it is not always an easy time for everyone.  People living in abuse, poverty or dealing with loss of loved ones can find this time of year exceedingly difficult. If that is you, I hope that you can find someone to share this season with, find a community that can be around you and support you. Know that you are not alone. 

 

We hear a constant echo of the celebrations that happen around this time of year. There are so many of them that I don’t expect that I could name them all. I admit there are many of those cultural and religious expressions that I don’t understand because I am not part of the culture that is involved. Regardless of my understanding I wish you all the best during this time. Enjoy your celebrations, I truly hope they are meaningful to you. 

 

What I want to focus on in this article is the great ability we have to change our community for the better. The VHL this time of year puts out a challenge to us, find a cause that you are passionate about and donate, take the opportunity to give blood.  Do something that is beyond yourself to bring healing and hope to those who may not have it for themselves.  I know that there will be many people who may not have the funds or the ability to give blood due to their own situations or just because they are not old enough.  I am going to put out a challenge to you. 

 

If you are someone who can’t take on the VHL’s challenge of improving our world then do something you can do to improve your world.  Do an act of kindness to someone or something (acts of kindness to animals are wonderful) and write an article telling us about it.  Join the positive acts that are going on in this community and share that hope with us all.  Let's flood the forum and discord with positive acts of kindness, generosity, and hope.  If you put together an article, please tag me in it.  I would love to read how this community can improve this world because I really believe it can. 

 

We have the ability to enjoy this time of year, but we also have the ability to allow others to enjoy it.  If we all do what we can this world will be better.  Thank you to everyone who has already or will take part in this movement.  Know that even the smallest of positive activities makes a different in someone’s life.  You may never know the end result of your action but doing good should not be about the end result but the process of getting there.
