take what you can give nothing back GIF

We are five days out from the start of the S97 season and truth be told, I am ready for another exciting season in Miami.  The Season 97 draft came and went, and free agency is over and the Marauders are looking to be competitive this year and take home that elusive Founders Cup.  So, let’s look in on the new additions to the S97 Miami Marauders.

C-Sidney Sheppard -12th overall pick

On the day of the draft the Miami draft room was frantic and tense.  A surprise loss of two players prior to the draft created a lot of talk about adding a defender at the #12 spot, Miami’s first pick.   However, as players fell off the board there was one that @Ricer13 was keeping an eye on, not believing this player would fall to 12.  So, when our pick came and center, Sidney Sheppard @GoodLeftUndone was available, it was a no brainer that Miami would take this player.

A solid user and already a Founder’s Cup champion in S96 in Sheppard’s short re-create stint.  A solid two-way addition to an established forward unit featuring Elf Shoes, Jacob Longstreet, and Luc Moreau.  The Marauders should be deadly up front and are looking to score first and often this season.

D-Bob Bangkok- 20th overall pick

At #20 the Marauders filled their need at defense by picking enormous defender, Bob Bangkok @Big Bob.  608 250 Bob steps into a team fielding just 3 defenders to start the season. Reminds me of a younger Guntis Gavilrovs.  @Big Bob is an established VHL user who was a good steal at #20 and playing with Armas Jortikka and Don Jagr will allow Bob to grow into a shutdown defender for seasons to come.

LW-Bam Morris @coachsj35- 34th overall

At the 34th pick the Marauders selected First Gen, Bam Morris.  A big bodied winger we are looking to bolster into a menace of a scorer.  Morris adds much needed depth to the forward corps and if he continues to grow should add some nice depth in scoring and PK time.

RW-James Harle @James Harle- 37th overall

Another first gen player that fell into the lap of Miami in the later rounds.  A smaller forward that, like Morris, will add some depth but will hopefully grow into a 200-foot complete threat on the ice. A few weeks of consistent earning will boost this player to pair nicely with the likes of Longstreet and Elf Shoes.

Overall, despite being a frantic pace in the draft the Miami Marauders were very pleased with their selections.  We have a pretty fun locker room, and we look forward to each of these members becoming part of the Marauder family for seasons to come.  To all our additions, congrats on being drafted and for the newcomers, welcome to the VHL.

The Marauders are in a win-now mode and after a tough loss to eventual champs Mississauga Hounds they are looking to come out hot and avenge that heartbreaking first round exit last season.

Happy holidays
