kirbithan 1,814
Another regular season over, another Kirby Rambles! To start, school is really starting to kick back into full swing (I have 13 assignments due by next Sunday, hooray). I’m trying to get back on schedule and try not to procrastinate too hard, though I’ve unfortunately already failed, but I definitely want to be more on top of assignments and things for my last semester of university and finish strong. Onto what matters most, the Continental Cup playoffs! Once again, Davos and Moscow will be facing off in the first round, and it’s guaranteed to be another for the books. These two franchises have a storied rivalry and last season, we know how it ended: with Davos sweeping Moscow in a stunning upset, but eventually falling to Vancouver in the Finals. Obviously I’m split on this series now that I’m involved with both teams, albeit in different ways, as I AGM for Davos but have a player on Moscow. Either way, I hope it’ll be a thrilling series and in a way, I suppose it’s gonna be a win-win for me however it ends. Speaking of the Menace, being a rookie in the VHL really does humble you. I wasn’t expecting superstar numbers by any means, as River ended 47 points (11 goals, 36 assists) in 72 games for 9th in rookie scoring, as well as 98 hits and 111 shots blocked. Honestly, I’m happy with that statline, considering how stacked the Moscow roster is. As we know, the better your team is, the worse your individual performance may be, but at the end of the day, I’m looking for another Cup, one way or another! The entire roster which includes the likes of Maverick Goncalves, Jarmo Ruutu, Pombo, Obuz Schneider Canet du Bocage, and Jillian Woods is certainly a force to be reckoned with, and I hope within the next few seasons, River will be able to slot into the role that Bocage leaves once they retire. I definitely do want to get that scoring up next season, and hopefully be able to break the 50 point milestone, though I’m happy overall with what River accomplished in his rookie year, considering the TPE range in the league. River will be just over 750 TPE after I get this claim in and I’m excited to see what I can do to improve him. With the conclusion of the regular season also comes with VHFL and Super Coach finishing up. My VHFL performance was unfortunately sub par, and I dropped down to third place in my group suddenly in the last few sims, which will secure me 4 TPE. Similarly in Super Coach, I was able to finish within the 4 TPE margin once more, which is significantly better than my performance last season, which I was happy to see. 8 uncapped TPE is huge and I’m always happy to see good results from a long season. Time will tell how many TPE I’ll be able to snatch up from the VHL playoff bracket challenge! This will be it for another rambling session. I know I always say I’m busy, but I genuinely sort of feel overwhelmed at times with life, school, and everything. However, I have an excellent support system and I’ll try not to worry over every single thing. Thank you to those who read all the way through and see you next time! Spartan 4,598
It's definitely weird for some max earners to come to Moscow after being used to being the top dog in the last few seasons of their prior VHLers careers and in the M as well. Unless we're just starting a rebuild, you're coming in at the bottom of the totem pole. Your job is to just not be a liability and develop as much as possible. We have other people to play the main roles, and in your case being the 3D is not a glamorous role at all. But it's good to see that you've taken it well and are motivated to chase the stars ahead of you. It's funny to see the people you listed as the stars on the team and to think back to who each of these folks had to sit behind when they first joined Moscow. Ruutu and Rashford sat behind Gunner and Alone/Lewis. Obuz was 2D behind Leif Reingaard. Woods had to sit behind Obuz of course (as she sadly still does), and Mav had to learn behind Rashford/Analfist. Everyone pays the dues when they join, it just makes them better in the long run! Excited to see the jump from Harrington for next season kirbithan and leandrofg 1 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/154554-kirby-rambles-davos-moscow-etc/#findComment-1051635 Share on other sites
