Recently acquired NY Americans defenseman and S97 most outstanding player nominee Guntis Gavilrovs is excited about the opportunity ahead this season. New York is a  strong team which just got a whole lot stronger with Guntis in town and will look to go deep in the playoffs this season with their eye on the cup! The addition of a bruiser like Gavilrovs on the blue line should be huge for the Americans. This team will now have both of the defenseman who were just nominated for the Brett Slobodzian Award! Callum Gary Yannick Janser @Daniel Janser  and Guntis Gavilrovs on the same blue line should be dynamite for New York this season, similar to how great Gavilrovs and Trueno were last season for Vancouver both posting over 100 points. To say the NY blue line is now outstanding would be an understatement, especially since Gavilrovs will be a huge addition on the top powerplay, his 16 PPG last season led the league and with him and Janser on the top of the powerplay this should be one of the better units in the league. Would be fun to see them as a pair at even strength too but odds are they are separated so one of them can always be on the ice at all times. Man it's going to be tough to play against NY this season with those two beauties throwing probably a combined 600 hits this year against VHL opponents. I feel a little bad for other teams, there's going to be a lot of players getting checked through the glass when they play NY, don't say we didn't warn you!
