Vladimir Trunov is a star goalie prospect who has become Junior World Championship winner and went down the history as it was the first time Asia has ever won the tournament. Arguably, he was one of the best players on the ice and it is not a surprise that DC Dragons, the most promising team, acquired him from Helsinki Titans.

G — 6' 3" — 190 lb. — S96, 10th overall. — Russian

PROs

Reaction: It is implied that Trunov has both amazing reflexes and reaction which make him the toughest goalie to play against. It is hard to find a way to score from different angles, due to the fact that Trunov needs minimum time to react on shots.

 

Sizing: Vladimir is not the best when it comes to body measurement, nevertheless, he does his best to take advantage of it. With 190lb and 6' 3" he is fast and flexible. It wouldn't be exaggeration to say that Trunov is the headliner of active style of playing in the net and further generations will take him as a role model.

 

Mentality: Vladimir was growing up watching Bogdan Trunov win the Continental Cup as a Warsaw Predators captain. He knows what hard work is and why he needs to be a better version than he was yesterday. The history doesn't remember the losers.

 

CONs

Consistency: The biggest concern of the scouting report that is pretty visible and it affected Vladimir pretty much, especially, in the playoffs. Hard to say what is the problem, however, Trunov had weak games during his tremendously successful regular seasons. Imagine how good his stats would have been if he could cope with it.

 

Important games: Trunov hasn't succeeded in playoffs so far. With 19 games played he has mediocre 0.885 SV% and 2.76 GAA. To tell you the truth, Trunov was not the reason of poor performance of Ottawa Lynx and Halifax 21st. But, obviously, Trunov couldn't carry his teams on his back.

 

Personality: As the third member of Trunov dynasty, Vladimir is the most competitive and selfish from his family. Scouts reported that Trunov chases personal awards more than anything and tooks failures personal. But we couldn't hear any concerns about his behaviour in the locker room. It seems we can't state that Vladimir has ever been a locker room cancer. And he likely won't ever be.
