SleepyPlayz 98 Posted yesterday at 12:05 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:05 AM With the boom of hockey in his life, Martinez has always been looking to get into more hockey related sports magazines and the like. With the appearances of many of the people who he's looked up to in the past, he hoped that one day, he'll be as good as them. Of course, for right now, however, he has a fight on his hands with his next game, but he'd definitely think about this later. -- Later, that same night... -- "God, I'm beat." Martinez said as he slammed himself on his bed, taking out his phone. He's always been pretty good at drawing, and minus the part time jobs he'd work, a lot of his income came from commissions. Now that he can't take advantage of people like he used to thanks to him being in a more stable economy, he figured it'd be about time to pick up drawing again. Who knew, maybe he'd be a local animator some day. Maybe not "local," since he didn't have many plans to return home, but he'd at least hopefully be a local legend. He stared at his phone, contemplating. If he opened the app he normally used, he knew he'd be fine. That's the issue though, complacency. He didn't want to get too used to only one medium. He'd done some traditional art in the past, though mostly of stylized flowers and the ocean rather than characters from well known media, and those received a lot of likes from his peers. That's it, he'd get his inspiration flowing using paper and pencil; a perfect plan. He got off his bed and walked to his "study room," which was just the living room that was styled more to a study room than anything. Sure, the room was connected to the kitchen, but it's not like people came over or anything. The TV he had set up was collecting dust, too. With a sheet and a mechanical pencil, he thought of what to draw. He'd take some inspiration digitally, but what type of drawing did he want to make? He was passionate about hockey, and he was also passionate about a select few action manga. Despite sitting there for what felt like hours, he still couldn't come up with a style he wanted to use. Most of his drawing styles were completely different from something like the style used to make JJK. His style was softer, leaning a lot more into heavy emotional scenes rather than fight scenes. Maybe he’d try switching it up. Lighting was his biggest weakness. He could do shadows, but they’d always be messy. They’d have a sense of cohesion- to the untrained eye, at least. Despite this, however, he pressed on. Filling in the general statue of the skeleton, getting a rough idea of the lighting, making the style look just right… And he didn’t do it properly, but he tried. He wasn’t too sure how to style a person who was hitting a hockey puck since there were rarely any clear moments that weren’t just full stadium shots that he could find, but he at least wanted to make something. He took a picture, got up, and immediately walked back to his bed. He was still so tired… VattghernCZ and qripll 2 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/155703-how-to-train-your-eye-for-drawing-a-day-in-the-life-agustin-martinez/ Share on other sites
