Gaikoku-hito 2,323 Posted yesterday at 03:48 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:48 AM My strategy of fighting: It is real a case-by-case situation due to size, weight and where you are able to grab the other player if at all. Scariest fights are boxing matches so close the distance no matter what but I guess here is what I used to do in most situations: 1. Grabbed the player using my right hand usually as close to his collar of his jersey as I could. Why: Most grab with the weak hand but I grabbed with my power hand as they don`t expect it and now they think I am lefty. It allows me a better chance of grabbing his power arm (usually his right) with my left hand while I distracted him with stronger than normal jabs in the face with my power arm under his chin. 2. Switch hands – Once I have a strong grip on his power arm and controlling the fight likely moving in a counter clockwise motion; it is now time to spring the trap. Let go of his collar and pull/dance him to the right. His instincts will tell him to pull back to the left as your hand comes free as he thinks he has broken free but it allows you to get two or three quick punches in over the top as he is off guard. Usually, fight is over as he should be off balanced. 3. Tie up – If he didn`t fall when you switched hands it now time to tie up since the distance between you is too much and he is likely trying to get free like a mad raging bull so close the gap quickly and re-grab with your right hand around his shoulder area or collar again. If he doesn`t tie up you can repeat #2 as he didn`t learn!! If he ties up fight is over or you might need to quickly reach down with your right hand and grab the front of his pants at the knees. Pull up hard and he should go down with you on top of him. Never let them do this to you as it hurts. 4. Fight is over!! Get up pat him on the shoulder or back say “Good fight” and head where the referee is taking you; usually the Penalty box if multiple fights or straight to the dressing room. Leave the ice and don`t engage the fans or other team players as it is pointless!! 5. Ice knuckles if you landed a few punches!! Have a beer as the adrenaline is going to hit hard as soon as you sit down. Some will even smoke afterwards to try to calm back down. Key aspect I should mention is practice fighting if you are in a league that allows fight or could have fights as this will allow you to work on your strategy but more importantly teach you how to protect yourself in a safe environment. Every Tough Guy in the NHL does practice their craft in either boxing or other forms of fighting. Check out Jody Shelley vs George Laraque: As shelley used this technique to win the fight. It wasn`t prefect but it was also due to the fact that they two knew each other as Shelley was really good friends and former team mate Edy Laraque; Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/155863-my-strategy-of-fighting/ Share on other sites
