Bravebulldogs 52
The Mississauga Hounds will be in the playoffs this year and will be chasing a cup. They made a big trade at the deadline to pick up Captain Nugget Jr.. But what about past this season? Are they set up for future success? That is what we will be looking at today. In the upcoming draft, where there are tons of high end prospects, the Hounds have two firsts, two fourths, and a seventh round pick. That will be five players that they will be adding and we don't even know what trades they might make. At last seasons draft, the Hounds traded for Sidney Sheppard, who has been a star for the Hounds. The Hounds will likely lose David VanHousen, captain Kurt Bachmann, Captain Nugget Jr., and Sidney Sheppard. They will have to rely on their two first round picks and Avery Acres, Jay Sikes, MacGregor Walcott, and Hank Smith next year if they want to contend. That is a really solid core and they will bring back goaltender Yor Bjorven who will certainly be a top goalie this upcoming season. The east could become a gauntlet next year with Philadelphia and Halifax likely losing very little players. Ottawa is on the rise and could add a lot of talent in the draft with 4 picks in the first 3 rounds. So who will the Hounds need to step up? My choice is winger MacGregor Walcott. The offense is losing a lot of talent and they will need another star or two to rise up. Jay Sikes has been great this year and Avery Acres has been clutch this year with 7 game winning goals so far. Walcott has 46 points in 68 games for the Hounds and will be a crucial piece next year for the Hounds. One area of this team that should be strong next year is defense. They will be returning Hank Smith, Remain Six Meters Back From Me, and Takashi Borisyuk. Three players might not sound great, but it is great when all of them will be entering their (in what I consider their) VHLM primes next year. And with two first rounders, the can add a star defender in the draft. After a quick rebuild after the cup win in S96, the Hounds are right back into contention. Although they still have the playoffs to play this season, it is never to early to look at the future. And as we have seen, next season could be a interesting one with all the players teams will add in the draft. Thank you for reading and tell me what you think in the comments/replies! I will try to make this a series and Philadelphia will be next if I do. Happy Playoffs everyone! badcolethetitan, ace_five_, Jett88 and 1 other 3 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/156393-mississaugas-future-outlook/ Share on other sites
