With both of the VHL and VHLM finals complete, eyes across the league now turn to the offseason. Trades and free agency will always be a key part of the offseason storylines, and the VHL Entry Draft on Friday will be a great opportunity to see the top players of the future, but the Season 99 VHLM Dispersal Draft will be uniquely interesting. Not only will there be three new GMs stepping into their roles this offseason, but this will also be the first draft involving the much-anticipated S100 class.
Anton Axelsson will be one of these young players. After sitting on the sidelines for much of the playoffs after Saskatoon was swept in the first round,  Axelsson is set to find out where he'll likely be spending the rest of his VHLM career. But how things will shake out seems to be a complete mystery. Dispersal Drafts are usually more unpredictable than their major-league counterparts, but this year's edition may be even more so - a few of Friday's likely first-round picks are eligible to be drafted to a new VHLM team, and on top of that the size and depth of the S100 draft class means that there might be a lot of variation between teams' draft boards. Axelsson and his representatives have been characteristically silent throughout the whole process, but they'll likely have a much clearer view of his future by the time the offseason ends.
