Minot, ND -- Hockey in Minot, North Dakota is officially over. The Minot Gladiators fell to the Brampton Blades in Game 6 of the North American conference finals, and with it go Minot's championship hopes. Perhaps more important, though, is the overall affect on the franchise. Seeing as how the VHL Commissioners voted to contract the team at the end of the season, the game was the last all-time for the Gladiators.

"I really wanted to go out on a high note," goalie Hans Wingate said after the game. "Still, I'm proud at how hard we fought. We did well."

Although Minot was seen as the underdogs entering the series, they put up a hard fight against the top-ranked Blades. Following a pitiful 6-shot performance in Game 2, Minot won two of their next three games, eventually forcing the fateful Game 6.

Now, it will likely be on to the VHL for Minot's two top players, Hans Wingate and Vogon Jeltz. Season 44 draftees Tim TebowGow, Simon Valmont and Jefferson Jackson, meanwhile, promise to be high selections in next year's VHLM Draft.

Still, it's likely that none of the current players will forget their run. Veltz called the season one of his agency's favorites of all-time, and Wingate's agency has to agree, even rivaling his Season 32 VHLM championship run. So long to Minot, we were always entertained.
