Sixersfan594 247
For edition 85 Prospect Spotlight: An Introduction Hello VHLm magazine readers! This is Taron47, and this is my article in the magazine and I am going to introduce a series that hopefully I can carry for a very long time. It will be called "Prospect Spotlight" I will analyze most prospects by the time of the upcoming draft's as long as I am in the magazine. I will project the draftees as well as analyze their best fit and what a team should expect. Anyways, let's start off the first edition with the "star" edition. These prospects are projected to become stars and should make their mark on the VHL. To start it off, the number one ranked prospect will be analyzed now. Edwin Reencarnacion Without a doubt, the number one ranked prospect is Edwin Reencarnacion. Edwin is the most VHL ready prospect in this draft class and could have the most potential given that he has twice as many practice hours as our second ranked prospect. Edwin's player agent is no stranger to the VHL, and has made someone who already was a successful player in the league, albeit took some stupid penalties. Despite that, Edwin is a completely new player and should be analyzed solely based on achievement and merit. Any General Manager would take Edwin at the first pick unless they are looking farther down the road and do not want to have a quick turn around. Regardless of that, let's project how Edwin will be in the future. It is very hard to project a prospect when he is on a team that completely dominates the VHLm. One thing which stood out was his penalty minutes, that is unacceptable for a number one overall pick. Edwin although he is the most advanced, really should not project as a number one overall pick unless the team has the win-now mentality. Edwin is a very solid two-way player, but he often times makes dumb decisions and is not very disciplined. Edwin should become the third forward on a contending team and the second best forward on a decent team. Him being undisciplined may result in very tiring situations for a playoff team when it matters the most. That one bad penalty can cost a team the Continental Cup. Personally, if I were a General Manager, I would be Edwin solely based on the fact that he is already very advanced, and if he continues to be more developed than his draft class he will help his team win games and compete. The risk is still there, but if the rest of the team is disciplined it is fine. Simon Valmount The second ranked prospect also comes from the very stacked Bratislava Watchmen It may be a little hard to judge due to the very good team around him. Simon comes out of Utsjoki, Finland and is ranked this high mainly due to his potential. He is very high on the list due to his practice hours, but other than that it is his two-way game which is turning the heads of many scouts. He, similar to Edwin Reencarnacion has a very strong checking game along with his skills, but he is very disciplined. He will not allow an easy entry into the offensive zone for the opposing team and will often make the puck carrier pay a big price. Along with his checking ability, Simon is very good at reading the play and is a great passer. He excels with his assist total, which albeit is not very good right now, will be very good in the future. Although there may be a bit of backlash for having him here, it is based on potential and how he projects. Simon is projected to become a very key second line forward on a cup contending team. He should get an assist in about 70 % of his games, and limit the oppositions scoring chance. Although these projections sound good, the General Manager's must be weary. This player agent has never made it to the VHL, and this is his first player. Simon is a very risk-reward kind of player who could still end up as a leader in assists, but a modest projection should have him as a second liner. Simon will become a first liner on his rebuilding team once he is ready to make the jump, and could definitely make an impact once called up. Closing Thanks for tuning in to the first prospect highlight. We wish each prospect good luck in their journey to making it to the VHL! Sixersfan594 247
For Edition 86: Prospect Spotlight: The Core Welcome to the second edition of "Prospect Spotlight." In this article, the coverage will be focused on the players in this upcoming draft that have potential to be stars, but will end up being core players for whatever franchise they are drafted to. These players will end up being borderline first liners, and will inevitably help their franchise to a championship if they are competing. Let's start off this article with our number one ranked core piece. Kekko Hyvarinen Kekko is a player who was left out of the last article because we thought that he was currently a VHL GM. Kekko is the top defensemen in a draft that is severely lacking in top defensive talent, apart from some forwards (Valmount just to name one). Kekko is a key piece to the Ottawa Lynx this season and has racked up as many points as many of the top forwards in the draft list. Kekko does not score very often, but he can find an open man almost at will, he has 36 assists! Kekko's value is extremely high for this draft given the lack of good defensemen in this draft. He could compete for number one overall due to the fact that he is a defenseman. A reasonable projection for Kekko would be number two defenseman on a contending team and the number one defenseman for any other team. He projects to be a good puck-moving defenseman who is very solid in his own zone. He is a very hard-working player and is very reliable. His player agent had created multiple reliable players and if a team needs a defenseman they should not hesitate with taking Kekko. He will become a player that can quickly spark a break-out from the defensive zone and create offensive chances with a few quick reliable moves. He can be depended upon, as seen in Ottawa and will become a top defenseman in the league if he reaches his ceiling. Le'Sean Coutzen Of course, with me being the writer of this article, there is no way I would not have included myself since I am biased. As a prospect who joined late, Le'Sean is already within a close distance of a top four spot in TPE earning and is a player built to become a core piece, not a star player. He is not putting up outstanding numbers in the VHLm, but he is able to be a solid two-way player with a playmaking flair. Le'Sean will be projected to be a second line center on a contending team, and a borderline number one center on a bubble team. He will not be a player that will wow you, but he will be important to his team. His team would need to have other players who can carry the majority of the load as he is a supporting cast player. He seems to be a safe pick since his player agent has had a VHL player before who has been in the core piece category while having an even slower start. Realistically we can look at Coutzen as the top second line center in the league. Marcel Faux Marcel is our second ranked left-winger in the VHL draft. He is an explosive player and will create countless opportunities for his team during a game, no matter what the situation may be. He is responsible in both ends of the ice -- which is something very commonly found in this draft -- and will no doubt make a mark on any game he is a part of. He excels in skating, puck handling, as well as his ability to defend while on the ice. He will pick up pucks and transition very fast due to his immense speed. If a team needs a scoring winger instead of a playmaking winger, they should take Marcel over Simon Valmount. Marcel, despite being ranked below Coutzen, will probably end up with more training hours and will be more of an impact player on whichever team he is on. He will score goals and will race up and down the ice to retrieve the puck. He projects to be the second best winger on a contending team, and will probably be the star of the offense of a team that is not competing. He will be an impact player who could win a playoff MVP award if he comes up big. His player agent has tons of experience in the league and he is the safe pick compared to Valmount. Thanks for tuning in to this version of prospect spotlight. Any questions, comments or concerns, just PM me, Taron47 and state whatever you want. The next article will be the sleeper picks so wake up GM's! Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/20626-taron47-articles/#findComment-225375 Share on other sites
Sixersfan594 247
For Edition 87: Prospect Spotlight: Recap Hello VHLm Magazine readers! Today on prospect spotlight I will be breaking down the Season 43 draft! I will analyze the strengths, and weaknesses of the draft. I will also be analyzing the value in almost every prospect and allotting each prospect to a "tier." The First Tier This tier contains only Edwin Reencarnacion, for this draft year he is in a class of his own! He started with a head start and has continued to run with it. He trains at an elite pace consistently. In regards to value, Reencarnacion has the highest value as of now purely due to his training despite the fact that there is another elite prospect in his position. Edwin projects to be a first line winger and should be able to achieve that ceiling and he is as much of a sure thing as possible. The Second Tier In the second tier you will find prospects, Kekko Hyvarinen, Simon Valmount, Marcel Faux, and Le'Sean Coutzen. All of these players are elite prospects, but they are all risks compared to the top tier player. Their total training hours are behind that of Edwin Reencarnacion but are near the top for this draft. Out of these players, the highest valued prospect should be Kekko Hyvarinen because he is a defenseman, and potentially the lowest "value wise" would be Marcel Faux due to Edwin Reencarnacion, but he will still be a great player once he develops and hits the VHL. This tier is filled with potential and will make the General Managers in the first half of the first round very happy in the future. The Third Tier In the third tier, we have Maxime Perron, Alexander Davidson, and Giovanni Reuel. This tier contains prospects who will need another VHLm year for sure, but have potential to be top 6 players in the VHL. These players have a different developmental curve, but can still become good impact players. All three of these guys will provide secondary scoring for whichever team they go to. All of these players look like they can end up around 400 to 500 total practice hours and could be the key to a team's championship. If I was a General Manager of a team that had a late first round pick, I would try to pick up one of these players, so that the team will have a prospect to turn to in a few seasons to make the roster and make an impact. These players will only need one season in the VHLm, but could take another if they wanted to. Their value as of now should be low because there are no guarantees that they will pan out, but it could be the time bond that a team could want if they want to stockpile assets. The "Other" Tier This tier is the "other tier" which contains prospects who do not look like they are developing as of late, but they can be used as assets later on. If a General Manager is able to develop one of these players they would be very lucky and have upped the value of their franchise. Some names out of the "other" are, R Truth, Supa Hot Fire, and Archie Wagner. Those three players may develop later, but again there are no guarantees. This tier will need at least two years in the VHLm to be usable in the VHL. Draft Class Summary For a very small draft class, to have eight very good prospects is very good. Almost half of the prospects look like they can be in the VHL in just a season or two. The value in this class is low, but that can be used in a way for a franchise that is struggling and is in a bad situation. That franchise can boost the "value" of the players through this draft. To be honest, a late first round pick in this draft -- past number eight -- will pretty much be of little use and the team should consider trading the pick for a pick next year or prospects. I would rate this class as above average despite the lack of depth. If it was not for the lack of depth, people would be raving about the draft by now. Sixersfan594 247
Prospect Spotlight: Mock Draft Edition Welcome to potentially the final edition of "Prospect Spotlight" for the Season 44 draft class! In this episode, I will be discussing who will potentially go where and approximate how the draft will go. To The New York Americans: Edwin Reencarnacion This should not come as a shock to anyone who is on the VHL website. Edwin Reencarnacion is far and away the best prospect from this draft at this time. Also, he is a Left Winger which is a need for the Americans, they have plenty of players on the right, but need someone like Reencarnacion to lead the left side. To The Calgary Wranglers: Kekko Hyvarinen Kekko Hyvarinen is the only solid defenseman in the draft. Often times the VHL suffers from a lack of defenseman and it would be smart for Calgary to capitalize on this opportunity to get a franchise defenseman. To The Helsinki Titans: Simon Valmount The Helsinki Titans will end up taking the home grown prospect. Helsinki gets a two-way forward who will create chances for his linemates. He will most likely be the first of the first generation players to be taken, and it is for a good reason. He has worked very hard to earn TPE and get ahead of fellow draft mates. To The Riga Reign: Marcel Faux Marcel has always had good reliable players and Riga would be dumb not to go the safe route with Marcel Faux. Riga will get a winger and a guaranteed top 6 player who will make an impact later. Marcel had dominated in the VHLm and could continue in the VHL. To The Riga Reign: Le'Sean Coutzen Le'Sean will help solidify both ends of the ice for any team he is drafted to. Also his elite face off ability will be of use to any team he goes to. The Reign go with their second straight safe pick, and one where they can create a dominate line for the future. To HC Davos Dynamo: Giovanni Reuel Davos will take Reuel here who has been rocketing up draft boards. His rise has suggested that maybe he will be able to gain TPE at a very fast pace and become an impact player. He could become a player that later on GM's wonder why they did not take the risk with him earlier in the draft. To The New York Americans: Alexander Davidson The New York Americans must go with Alexander here since Maxime Perron's TPE pace has decreased, and no one else is in that range. Alexander Davidson is the next best thing for the team to draft. To The Toronto Legion: Archie Wagner Archie has been climbing up draft boards due to his success in the VHLm. He should be picked up by Toronto due to his TPE pace, and since he is very active. He is a pick that you stash away and hope that he will come out refined later. To The Helsinki Titans: Maxime Perron Helsinki should go with the best player available at this spot and hope that Perron can continue his development. He is a player who has stalled recently but he can become a good top 6 player in his career. That concludes the VHLm magazine VHL mock draft. We wish all of the prospects good luck in your career and to cherish the draft process as well as the time you had in the VHLm! Sixersfan594 247
For Edition 89: Prospect Spotlight: An Introduction Welcome to the second annual edition of Prospect Spotlight. This year's draft looks absolutely stacked and could become one of the better ones in recent memory. With many people re-creating and many new recruits this class should be almost two rounds deep with active talent. This edition of Prospect Spotlight will only contain an introduction to this draft class and project how the draft will progress as we continue towards the VHL draft. To start off, the high end talent of this draft is tremendous, Clegane, Hamilton, and Kyanon are top tier talents. These players would be able to contend for the first overall pick in almost any draft. What is surprising is that the top two players, Hamilton and Kyanon are both defensemen, which is rare to find for a sim league draft. Not that many people create defensemen, but it turns out that the two best players in terms of practice hours will be defensemen. The third player in regard to practice hours is a Goalie, which if you want a Goalie, take one in this draft. Clegane's value should be dramatically low compared to Hamilton and Kyanon only because of the vast amount of re-creates who are goalies. After those three elite players, we have essentially three to four very good talents for the second tier. Ariel Weinstein, Max Molholt, Sandro Clegane, and Marquis Hyvarinen are driving this part of the draft. Teams that stacked up with first round picks must be salivating to know that as long as the original owners of the picks do not make the finals they can end up with any one of these future star players. All four of these players would be considered elite talents in most drafts, but again the top of this draft is very strong and has already distanced themselves. One thing about these players are that they should be built around, but they will need a strong secondary player to help carry the load for the team. All of them will be very successful with almost zero risk involved with any of these players. Instead of creating two more tiers, the rest of the draft can be grouped together. Despite some players capable of being stand-outs, it is best to wait another week or two to determine who breaks out and leads the new tier. This last tier has players who can end up as first-liners as well as players who may forever stay in the VHLm. Some interesting players in this category could be Matt Gatsby, Tanner Hynes, and Maxime Wright. Why you may ask? Matt Gatsby is under the wing of Kendrick, arguably one of the best player agents to ever grace the VHL, with the assistance of Kendrick anyone can create an all-time great. After that we have Tanner Hynes, a player agent who is very successful in another league and became a General Manager in record breaking time. Tanner is a very hard working person and if he puts his mind into it his player may become the steal of the draft. Lastly, we have Maxime Wright, who's player agent is known for being outgoing and streaky, and by streaky that is in regards to practicing. Despite the question marks, no one can deny 701's history in creating good players and his next player can become the next big thing. Overall, I would say that this draft is capable of having at the very least ten all-star caliber players. Many successful player agents have enrolled in this draft and there should be no doubt that this draft will be ruling the VHL for years to come. General Managers should be very careful when trading picks with this draft because a second round pick can come to haunt them in the playoffs years later. Sixersfan594 247
For Edition 90 Prospect Spotlight: The Top Tier Welcome to the second edition of Prospect Spotlight. In case you have been living under a rock, you may have noticed that this draft is especially good compared to the modern drafts since moving to this website. Although this draft has heavy top-end talent, they also have plenty of actives who will go later in the draft. Sadly, I cannot cover every single active in each episode, but in this episode we will focus on the top tier only. The top tier has three main prospects who are already having to bank their training hours to comply with the VHLm rules. Here is my take on their ranking and their projection. 1. Biggu Kyanon The first player I would take in this draft will be Tfong's player, Biggu Kyanon. Tfong is arguably one of the most active and intellectual person on this website. He has created countless players who have gone on to become superstars and he has also been a great General Manager every single time he takes over. He is also a great leader and can help the locker room for any team. Lastly, he does have some recruiting power and people want to play with him, thus if you draft him chances are your team will look better in the eyes of the other star players in the league. In regards to projection, Biggu is going to become a superstar, and will be in the top three in regards to defensemen every single year after his rookie campaign. Any General Manager will be lucky to have drafted him and will get a number one defensemen for the future. Biggu will become a top player in the league simply due to hard work and he will become good, if not elite, in every single aspect of the game. 2. Phil Hamilton Due to the massive influx of goaltenders in this draft class it would only make sense for a team to draft a defender and look for a goalie deeper in the draft. Apart from the fact that you will receive a defenseman, you will also receive a great member who is always a positive in the community. The next great thing about Phil is that his players are always above average. No team can go wrong in the top 3 (or even in the first round). The last thing is that defenseman are also very hard to find, similar to goalies, which allows a rebuilding team more flexibility. Phil's player will become a number one defenseman without a doubt. I predict for Phil's team to win at least one cup by the end of his career. He will become a good fit within any system and if it were not for Kyanon he would be a very hot commodity. 3. Greg Clegane The last, and third player which I would take from this tier is actually the hardest worker. This man's player agent is Victor, a long time commissioner in the VHL. If he were to be a defenseman I would have had him at one, and if he were a forward I would take him at number two. I feel as though Clegane chose the wrong draft class to create a world class goaltender since there are many other great goaltenders in this draft class. I project him as a sure fire number one goalie with potential to be the best goalie in the league and maybe of all-time if he catches some lucky breaks. Greg will become the most worked goalie of this class, but will he become the best statistically? This is something for STHS to figure out and I think 100 to 150 TPE off of another goalie should make a difference but sometimes it will not. Sixersfan594 247
Prospect Spotlight: The Second Tier With pretty much a two week break, Prospect Spotlight is back! Today we are highlighting the second tier of prospects, which just so happened to be slightly diminished yesterday with Molholt being elected as the new Toronto Legion General Manager. Molholt's player, Max Molholt was going to be the candidate to lead this tier of draftees, but the sad news for both Riga and Helsinki is that he will not be in the draft and the class of skaters in this draft has lost a huge asset. Anyways, the article must still go on, and I will have to highlight the rest of this tier. This tier contains three players now instead of four; it contains Ariel Weinstein, Sandro Clegane, and Marquis Hyvarinen. As per usual, I will have to rank them and give a break down, which will not change despite the loss of Molholt. 1. Ariel Weinstein Ariel has the most practice hours from this tier by far and has shown a consistent work ethic throughout his whole career. Despite being a Goalie, Weinstein still has higher value that Hyvarinen solely due to his practice hours. Weinstein's player agent is back to his former role as a VHLm commissioner and with him having that role, he has a very respectable safety net for when he is drafted and his player's potential floor has just been raised. Ariel will not become a franchise goalie, but instead he projects as a journeyman starter or an average started with one or two all-star game appearances. It is very hard to create an elite goalie in the VHL unless you spam the point tasks or have created multiple goaltenders before. 2. Marquis Hyvarinen Marquis is an interesting choice to put early in a draft class, especially ahead of Jardy, but the ranking has less to do with TPE earning ability. I think that Hyvarinen will bring a solid player no matter what, and when you draft a goalie you want something extra if you invest early. Marquis lights up any locker room he steps into and is also a very intelligent guy. Marquis projects to be a borderline top line Right Winger and will most likely turn into a key piece to a winning team. I believe that Marquis will try to hit the league leaders for points but will fall short of the overall list and be a great secondary option. 3. Sandro Clegane This last player I feel will end up as the steal of the draft since he will probably fall a bit to whichever team wants to amass value and assets. Jardy is a long time commissioner and simmer and will end up earning loads of TPE. The main reason for him to fall is that many people do not take him too seriously and may think that he is not too committed to his player, which I disagree with. Sandro projects as a sure starter after some seasoning in the VHLm. I do not believe that he will be amongst the leader of the pack, Greg Clegane, but instead he will have a long term competition with fellow goalie Ariel Weinstein.
