Jamie 438 Posted July 31, 2015 Share Posted July 31, 2015 BRAMPTON, ON - The Blades have been claiming players off the waivers for free over the past couple of weeks and one of those players is Saul Hackett, a big bodied defenseman. He comes from Canada and has a smaller frame but once he puts on weight he can be a force to reckon with. Brampton is a team that has been competitive but are going through a retool right now. Nonetheless they are locked in a playoff spot currently and Saul will get some much needed experience before the VHLM Dispersal Draft in the off-season. Through 2 games, Hackett has been kind of quiet but it's difficult stepping in midway through the season and playing while everyone is at their top competitive level. Nonetheless he has been throwing the body in front of pucks and has 8 shots blocked in just those two games! He also hasn't been a negative so he's not doing anything bad out there. Hopefully Hackett can ease into the league and continue to get better and eventually get drafted to the VHL in a season's time.
