Childhood

Kol Mikaelson was born and raised in the capital city of Canada, Ottawa, Ontario. When he was 4 years old. Kol was adopted by Michelle and Alaric Mikaelson. He joined a new family and a new world. Michelle and Alaric already had a child of there own named Niklaus Mikaelon, who is now the starting goaltender for the Quebec City Meute. As a child Mikaelson was interested in multiples things. His parents mentioned that Kol was always consumed in whatever he was doing. When he played with toys, video games, watching television etc. Kol was always into what he was doing and his parents found it extremely hard to get his attention when he was in that zone.

"Kol was always so into what he was doing from such a young age. If he really liked it, you wouldn't be bale to take it away from him. His toys, his games, books etc. I remember his teacher calling me one day after school, she informed me that every time the class was assigned a book to read, Kol always finished it way before everyone else. This was back in grade 4, so you didn't see many students doing that. Again, Kol didn't do that for every book, just the books he took a liking too." - Michelle Mikaelson.

When Kol was in elementary school he played and started for practically every single sport that was available for boys. Kol didn't just play a lot of sports in school he dominated them. He was so good that he was a star on every team he played for and was regarded as the best athlete in the history of his elementary school. Out of all the sports he played, the younger Mikaelson brother  took a special liking to soccer, volleyball and hockey.

"He was always the best at the sports he played. As a parent it always made me proud but tired at the same time haha. The amount of games I had to attend to. It wasn't until middle school that Kol focused more on a select few sports. In middle school he decided to only play for the hockey, soccer and volleyball team. So you know I had a lot less games to watch now haha." - Alaric Mikaelson.

A lot of high school coaches took a liking to Kol after hearing about him from his middle school coaches. Kol didn't really care about which high school to go to and so he just simply went where his older brother was attending.

"I remember asking him about where he thought he should end up. All these coaches wanted him to play for there respective schools but Kol didn't care. He looked at me and said I'm going where all my Niklaus is. I respected his decision and never thought about it again." - Alaric Mikaelson.

High School

After a spectacular middle school career Kol followed his older brother footsteps to St. Patrick's high school. Kol did the same as he did in middle school and only played for the hockey, soccer and volleyball team. Kol was not only an athlete but a winner. He won trophies and reached finals with every team he played for. His win streak continued in high school as the Irish always had great soccer, hockey and volleyball team. The streak came to an abrupt end in his grade 10 year, the St. Patrick's Irish hockey team was unable to win the city championship for the first time in 3 years. Kol was so effected by the loss that his coach said he staid behind after the game an jut sat in the stands as he stared at the blank ice. Kol took a big liking to hockey over the other sports thanks to his older brother Niklaus who was really into it but it was also this very loss that really had him decide that hockey was what he wanted most.

"That was the day I fell in love with the game. Everyone thought I was just really mad about losing but it wasn't that at all. It was my first time not winning a championship and it was my first time knowing what it felt like to lose. We lost to a strong team and that made me want to be better. At the time I played 3 sports and I didn't have a favorite between them. I did like playing hockey in large part because of Niklaus who I practiced with all the time and always had fun, but It was after that day that I actually took hockey seriously." - Kol Mikaelson.

When he said he took hockey seriously he wasn't joking. The following year Kol dropped volleyball and only played soccer and hockey. He had been playing for his hockey senior team since grade 9 and was named captain in his grade 11 year.  Mikaelson put 46 points, 25 goals and 21 assists in his first year as captain. Kol was the first player in the history of his school to reach the 25 goal plateau. Mikaelson's athleticism put him a level above the rest. He not only scored at will but was able to contribute o the defensive end as well. His explosiveness made him such a hard player to lock on and it made him draw a ton a penalties. In his senior year Kol dropped soccer and just played Hockey a he wanted to focus more on just one sport. He was named regular season MVP for the second straight year and won the city championship with the Irish. For the first time in St. Patrick's history, Kol and the Irish went into OFSAA as the number 1 seed and the number 1 seeded team did not disappoint as they won the OFSAA tournament. Kol recorded 13 points, 8 goals, 6 assists in just 6 games.

"He made it look so easy. He is by far the best player I ever coached and I've coached some really great players here. It was like he got into the game more and more every day. When he dropped soccer in his senior year to just play just hockey..that's when I knew he was going to be great. He's so quick, has great hands, explosive, he can see the ice well and create opportunities or his teammates. He's got so much potential and it's clear to see. I received several calls from colleges from the US who wanted to speak with Kol to have him play for them. I remember turning most of them down because I knew Kol wasn't interested in going to the US. " - Coach Jefferson.
