ChrisF 105
Player Info Name: Christopher Fekete Age: 18 Height: 5'11" Weight: 170 lbs Born: Burnaby, BC, Canada Position: Goalie Hand: Right Team: Brampton Blades Player Bio: Fekete is Canadian bred, playing hockey since he was old enough to put on skates. He grew up idolizing Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur, 2 of the greatest goalies in NHL history. Coincidentally, both Canadian too. He has never stopped working hard for his ultimate goal and it looks like his hard work has finally paid off. Fekete will be making the jump from the CCHL (Classic Canadian Hockey League) to the VHLM. The level of play will be something Fekete is used to as he is a boy among men (competing against 23+ age players on a nightly basis) Strengths: Skill: With his game resembling around Brodeur and Roy, it's safe to say that Fekete has all the potential to be a generational talent. Obviously there will need to be some tweaking here and there (ex. Rebound control, and playing bigger in net to cover the corners) but with experience, it'll come. He's the first one on the ice, the last one to leave. Shows you how dedicated and passionate he is about the sport of hockey. Team player all the way. Maturity: He will always do what the coach thinks is best. Fekete is a laid back kind of guy that puts his team first and his own needs second. He is wise beyond his years. It doesn't seem like he is only 18 years old, he acts and behaves like a seasoned veteran. Leadership: Fekete has all the tools to be a strong leader in the dressing room. His work ethic is top notch and it rubs off on his teammates. He wants to win and gives 110% night in and night out. Weaknesses: Superstitious: Like some players, Fekete at times has habits like chewing a specific type of gum during the 3rd period and not talking to the media before the game. It might seem a bit crazy but his coaches and teammates don't care, as long as he is giving his team a chance to win each game, that's all they can ask for. Mental Toughness: Because he doesn't like to lose, if Fekete gives up a soft goal or 2, you can see for a split second that it gets to him and he starts talking to himself (ala Bryzgalov). Don't worry though, he isn't scared of bears. He is just a competitive professional that likes to win and doesn't want to let himself or his teammates down. Rebound Control: Being a young goalie, you'll be facing a lot of shots as teams want to test how good you really are or if you're just a flash in the pan. Fekete at times lets out loose rebounds or makes easy saves sometimes difficult. With time, and the right goalie coach, these can be amended but for the time being, it'll be interesting to see if Fekete can get off on the right foot to begin his hockey career.
