iRockstar 307
The nineteen year old from Ireland was a hot commodity joining the VHLM and joining the league pretty much fully through was something he knew he would have to overcome, but Mercer didn't really care as he waited patiently to be picked up through waivers. It didn't take long for Cian to be swept up by Ottawa, a team his agent has a lot of experience with. When told about the experience and what was to come, he commented with the following: "It wasn't really surprising, to be honest. I'm one of the hottest free agent defenders to join the league and I came at a time where Ottawa was winning. It's just more surprising that Ottawa was the only team in on me, but I suppose other GM's were sleeping and didn't care to add a superior piece to their team. At the end of the day, it's a win/win situation for both the team and myself, as I had planned to purchase a residence somewhere in Canada, now I know that I'll be moving to Ottawa and I have no regrets." It didn't take long for Mercer to make his debut, being slotted into the two next games Ottawa would play, and even notching his first point, an assist against Saskatoon. While Mercer has a lot to prove with his agent having a sketchy past, it's obvious that he's very serious about the game and willing to take whatever strides are needed to be taken. Only time will be able to tell if this hot commodity fizzles out or continues to stay on fire.
