With the VHLM finals getting started yesterday, the Ottawa Lynx have been all business during this holiday season. After blowing out the Brampton Blades in the semi-finals by a final tally of four games to one, Ottawa has had their eyes focused on the real prize: the VHLM finals championship. "This has been our goal since day one" said Lynx GM Jardy Bunghole. "We have been a motivated team and this is the final hump to get over if we want to reach that goal. Moscow stands in our way and they aren't going to be an easy win. We have to be on top of our game and close them out quick because if they get some momentum going, they're hard to stop." Ottawa achieved that goal by winning game one and taking an early lead in the series. Now Moscow has their backs against the wall and are facing a deadly 2-0 deficit if they can't bounce back in game two. "Obviously it's a must win for us" said Red Wolves GM Steven Stamkos. "They are an amazing team and have proved all season long that they have our number. We would have loved to win game one, but that didn't happen. So now we have to gather our thoughts, dig down deep, and win game two. It's as simple as that."

 

The Lynx have delayed their Christmas festivities until the series is over. They had a slight celebrating last night after their game one victory, but with game two being played less than 24 hours after the conclusion of game one, they needed to get their rest. The normally happy LeAndre St. Pierre looked determined after game one, showing minimal emotion an taking a business-like approach to the series. "We didn't come here to recognize the birth of Christ" said St. Pierre. "That happened a long time ago and we are the type of team who lives in the present. Not like a Christmas present, but like right now. You get what I'm fucking talking about. The finals are the only thing that matters right now. Christmas can wait until next year." Instead of partying after the victory, LeAndre went back to his apartment and started getting ready for game two. It is a sight that hasn't been seen from St. Pierre before. Maybe he is maturing and being the leader that this Ottawa team needs him to be. However, if the Lynx end up winning the VHLM finals championship, there could be a celebration unlike any other. LeAndre has been known to throw some of the biggest bangers known to man, so a second VHLM championship ring on his finger may be cause for the destruction of the city of Ottawa. Unlike last year in Moscow, St. Pierre is now the face of the team and would likely be the ringleader of any celebrations that take place in the downtown Ottawa area.
