Commissioner Beketov 9,025 Posted January 8, 2016 Commissioner Share Posted January 8, 2016 Two games into Season 47 of the VHLM and things are not looking too hot in Saskatoon. The team dropped their first two games (both against Ottawa) and allowed a league high 84 shots against their rookie goaltender Jakob Holik. After the game Holik was particularly upset about his team's performance. "Frankly, it feels like I was thrown under a bus out there. I know I didn't have my best games ever but it's pretty challenging when you are facing shot totals up above 40 and your team can't seem to block anything." -- Jakob Holik The wild blocked only a total of 19 shots and only managed to put 5 of their own in the net over the course of the two games. Lines will likely be changed up going forward to try and prevent box scores like they saw in their opening games but Holik is already seeing a trend he doesn't like. "Honestly, it feels as if the Wild drafted me so that I could completely carry the weight of the team. I don't know if that's the case but it's how it seems. I'm not playing my best hockey and need to improve myself but that won't happen facing that many shots. If we want to win this season, we need to all put the effort in to get the stat lines evened out and stop the other teams from getting so many chances. I'm not interested in getting slaughtered every night." -- Jakob Holik Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/27067-wild-off-to-slow-start/ Share on other sites
