Fresh off a VHLM championship and a World Cup silver medal, Joel Jarvi entered his first season looking to build on what he did in the minor leagues and World Cup. Through his first 33 games Jarvi is showing why he is one of the young and up coming defenseman that people should be watching. Jarvi has 8 goals with 24 assists for 32 points which has him in the top 5 in scoring for VHL defensemen and tied for the rookie scoring with Seattle Bears Niels Skovgaard. The rebuilding Express still have a long way to go but it seems they have their first building block in Joel Jarvi and for veteran GM Greg Harbinson, that's what he hoped for when signing the young finnish defenseman. Jarvi already has a best VHLM defensemen award and now is looking for a Rookie of the Year in his first season in the VHL.
