Ventas 32 Posted February 5, 2016 Share Posted February 5, 2016 Thom Brakaww managed to corner Alokin Alset for a couple of questions before he could get away… Brakaww: Alokin, what are you looking to get out of this league, the Victory Hockey League? Alset: Ya know, I’m really hoping that I can just show up and be awesome. I don’t need the fans to worship me, I don’t even need my teammates to love me, really. I just want to get on the ice, and be awesome. Brakaww: Wait, so you don’t care what people think of you? Isn’t that part of the fame you get from being a pro athlete? Alset: Well, we’ve all been told that since we were young, but I really don’t care for it. My skills speak for themselves. I’m good. I know I’m good when it comes to producing on offense. I know I can work on my defensive game, but that’ll come with constant training and work. I know my coaches will get me there. I’m not too worried about it for now, as everyone will be too busy watching me score. Brakaww: So what if the people do fall in love with you? Alset: That’s fine. I just don’t need that adoration. It’s great if people like me, but I don’t need to be a fan favorite in order to keep playing my game. I’m the boss. Brakaww: Well I’m glad you’re so confident in your abilities. What do you plan on doing until you get called to play for a VHLM team? Alset: Well, I plan on doing what I do best. I’m going to train my ass off and make sure people notice me. I know it’s hard coming into this league without a big name, and without a big celebration that some people get, but I’m not too worried about it. I feel that too many people get picked to play on teams just because of their name, and they end up being lackadaisical because of it. They feel they’re entitled to a night off here and there. I don’t want to take a night off. That’s not what I signed up for. I signed up to hustle every single night, and make sure the fans that spend their good money on a high caliber player. I don’t intend to just skate by… I intend to knock people on their asses and get noticed. I want to be a good player, and I want to be remembered. Brakaww: Any final comments before I let you go? evrydayimbyfuglien 600 Posted February 8, 2016 Share Posted February 8, 2016 Good interview content-wise. Could use some separation between the interviewer's questions and your responses. Also, a picture would be nice, even something simple. Lastly, you were at 456 words so in the future you should probably add a little more to get up the 500 word count we're looking for. All things considered, nice job with the interview. Just need to work on length and appearance but those are things that are easy to fix.
