Ted Doughty has made his mark on the VHLM, in a very small way.

In his first game, Doughty would score for the Royals in a losing cause to notch his first point and goal in the VHLM. Not ground-breaking by any measures, but a small step towards greatness, and one that Doughty believes he can build on. Doughty had this to say about it.

It was great to get the ball rolling like that so early in the season. I figured I'd be at least a dozen games without a goal, but to have one right out of the gate like that is awesome. It wasn't a laser beam or even a well placed wrister, hell, I wasn't even trying to score. I just put a shot low to try and generate a rebound and it slipped right by the keeper's left pad. That's hockey though, it's a game of weird bounces and inopportune times for opportunity. I feel like that first one really gave me the confidence to try and shoot more, and with more time in practice and with our shooting coach, my shot could eventually develop into one that could strike some fear into a goalie's heart.
