Phil Hamilton joined the Cologne Express just before Season 49 started from his career-long club, Helsinki Titans. Phil has played four seasons in the VHL and looks to have a career best with the Trains.

“I kind of wanted to stay in Helsinki until my eighth season, unless my brothers came here. I want my last season to be playing with both of them regardless. However, with Helsinki’s very rapid shift from Cup contenders to total rebuild, I knew it was only a matter of time before I was dealt. The decision to try to go to Cologne was an easy one, as Mr. Knight has mentioned in a number of podcasts”

Cologne started off the season 2-0 before losing the next 8 games, then going on a 4 game winning streak, to reclaim the top of the European Conference. The offense has been much better after the 10th game and Hamilton is leading the way in numerous categories, including points and shots blocked. Most importantly, the Express have won games against the two giants this season, NYA and the Legion.

“Well, let’s put it this way: The Americans and the Legion have only a combined 3 losses to this point – and we’ve handed them 2!  The atmosphere in the lockerroom is exciting and energetic. We have a lot of heart and soul on the team and we will be carrying that with us everywhere this season."
