Maxwell erupts for 35 shots, 11 points in two games

Recommended Posts

Diana Maxwell has had an up-and-down season for the most part, but on Sunday, things were up enough to cover a few days of futility. Playing two games against Moscow, Maxwell scored a total of eight goals, earning the first star in both games. The Blades as a team demolished the Red Wolves in both games, winning by scores of 7-0 and 7-1.

Maxwell also added three assists in the first game, giving her credit for each of Brampton's seven goals in that game. For Maxwell, it was a good couple of games to catch up in the scoring race. While she still trails Asher Donovan by 12 points (and teammate Theo Axelsson by three), she is second in goals with 47 to Donovan's 49.

The Blades currently trail Donovan and the Rush by two points in the standings, 79 to 77. The Bern Royals over in Europe are also contenders for the top regular season record with 73 points. While Bern and Yukon are done playing each other, Brampton has six games left against the Rush and five left against the Royals. This constitutes the majority of their remaining games. The rest of their games are against either Saskatoon or Moscow, the two worst teams in goals allowed. That portion of the schedule could help Maxwell in her quest to lead the VHLM in goals.
