.sniffuM 1,741
The New York Americans have shifted gears with their franchise. After making the playoffs for 6 straight seasons, one of which culminated in a championship, the team ultimately decided to move quickly and jump start a big rebuild. The team has already gotten the wheels turning, securing a season 50 first rounder, two season 52 first rounders and a season 52 second rounder. The team didn't have its first in the S50 draft and doesn't have any of its picks in the following drafts, so the decision to get a rebuild going is truly a bold one, but the team has already gotten a strong jumpstart on regaining assets for the next era of their team. Another big factor in the timing of the rebuild and what picks the team has gotten thus far is the VHL's impending "Player 2 Proposal" that should breathe new life into VHL draft pools. As such, that season 52 second rounder that the team acquired is sure to be a solid asset. Having already sold off Jorma Ruutu, it'll be interesting to see where the rest of New York's trade assets find themselves.
