Tagger 2,722
On Being Selected Seventh Overall Surprising in truth. Heading into the draft, I felt that there was a good round full of players that could contribute to a team more than a backup goalie could. The GM told me though that the selection was more to do with what I bring off the ice than what I bring on it so it feels good to see that some people rank my intangibles high enough that they'd take me over players that'll end their careers with a lot more ice time than myself. On Being Selected By The Meute I'm happy to play for the Meute franchise as they restart their rebuild. While I was fine to join whichever team drafted me, my hopes with the draft were to end up on one of the three teams that I've yet to play for (the other teams being the Titans and the Dynamo), so I'm happy to get to play for my eighth team in my VHL career. I'd actually briefly been on the team in the Season 40 Off-Season when they traded for my FA rights from Calgary and while I didn't end up joining them (their team setup wasn't a good fit for me to fulfill my goals at the time, which was hits, shots blocked and PIM records) I was impressed by the locker room activity that Brovy and Frank had maintained, so I look forward to more of the same now I'll actually be playing for the team. I'm also happy to be playing back alongside Jruutu, who was a huge asset for the Americans in my stint there as GM. On Suggestions That He Was Trying To Find His Way Onto A Certain Team I've read a couple of things over the last season that have seemed to indicate that this "backup plan" was part of an attempt to join a certain team or maybe avoid others, but I don't understand why they would have thought that outside of it being unusual to see a backup goalie enter the draft. I was upfront with New York about my intent to play backup in the Locker Room (Not that they would have drafted me anyway as they already have a goalie prospect in M.T. Power) and every GM that contacted me (I was PMed by three GMs, all of which had picks in the first round) was told exactly the same, so I don't understand which team they would have thought I was aiming to be selected by. On Reports That His GM Had Said He Would Bench Him For Every Game If He Continued As Backup Goalie From my talks with my GM, he's said he's fine playing me as a backup goalie, so while I was initially annoyed to read those comments, I feel confident that my GM understands my position and will respect my wish to play backup goalie.
