Azhishchenkov Joins Lynx

 

 

          Hailing from Moscow, Russia, the 6’3”, 195 pound Konstantin Jaroslav Azhishchenkov was recently picked up on waivers by the Ottawa Lynx of the Victory Hockey League Minors. As a player who joined the team via waiver claim, Azhishchenkov will only be a member of the Lynx for the remainder of S36, although that may work out in his favor. After winning the Founder’s Cup in S35, the Lynx will more than likely be going through a multi-season rebuild. Since joining the VHL, Azhishchenkov has been spending time practicing and improving at an impressive rate for a new member. If he keeps up this pace, I don’t think it’s a stretch of anyone’s imagination to see Konstantin selected as an early second or late first round draft choice in both the S37 VHL Entry Draft and S37 VHLM Dispersal Draft. As the only member of the Ottawa Lynx who is still progressing daily, Azhishchenkov will get first line even strength minutes and play in every special teams situation.  With plenty of ice time, the hope is that Konstantin will have ample opportunity to demonstrate his offensive abilities to VHL scouts. In the meantime, the hope in Ottawa is that KJA will have more teammates to talk to soon, as being the only active member of a team can be lonely.
