Phil 5,119
A Legion Xmas Story Chapter 1 - @stevo Chapter 2 - @DollarAndADream & @Molholt Chapter 3 - @sterling & @Phil Chapter 4 - @Victor Chapter 5 - Hotel Breakfast Chapter 6 - The Swap Chapter 7 Jeff, Phil, and David were having a blast in the snow. Phil had managed to accost David and shove snow down his back just before Jeff made a flying tackle to knock them both to the ground. The laughter of the three lads echoed around the yard and woodland area and only stopped when, exhausted and rosy cheeked they all collapsed in the snow panting deeply. Deciding they better go inside and get warmed up, they dragged their soaked selves through the doorway, much to the chagrin of Mrs. Hamilton, whose perfectly cleaned foyer was getting snow slopped all over it. She shooed the boys on into the house and armed herself with a mop to rectify the situation. By the time all three Hamilton’s had their hot showers, dinner was awaiting their appetites on the table. The smell could bring you to your knees. There was roasted potatoes, lamb with an apricot sauce, some homemade mint jelly, Brussel sprouts with sour cream sauce, some ham, red and white wine as well as sparkling juices, mountains of vegetables and assortment of pastas. The brothers clambered around the table and sat down to feast with their parents. “When’s grandma and grandpa getting here?” David asked with a mouth full of potato. “They’ll be arriving tomorrow morning,” Mrs. Hamilton replied. “So I’ll need you boys to do some dusting in the morning to make sure everything’s spic and span.” “You know they won’t care if they spot a cobweb under the sofa right?” Jeff asked. “That’s not the point, Jeoffery. I want the house looking absolutely perfect. Are you boys going out to get a tree after supper?” “Oh yea,” Phil replied instantaneously. “Dad are you coming with us?” “May as well.” Replied the surly figure at the head of the table. Dinner carried on in a merry sort of ways as everyone enjoyed the food and talked of their Christmas plans, the baking that was to be done, the presents that needed wrapping, the songs that needed to be sung, the food (and especially beer) that needed to be consumed, and the movies that needed to be watched. Presently the phone rang and Mrs. Hamilton got up to answer it. After a matter of moments, she came back into the kitchen, still clutching the phone next to her ear with a shaky grip, her eyes wide. Everyone stopped talking and looked up at her. “Gran… Grandpa’s dead.” Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/36271-a-legion-xmas-story-chapter-7/ Share on other sites
