I find it highly amusing that Shankly, who will have just finished his rookie season, will be participating in already his second World Cup.

He declared his eligibility for the VHLm back at the trade deadline of S50, meaning that he had a third of the season and the beginning of the off-season to prove to his coaches, and the league, that he was of sufficient quality to join the Western Europe roster.

He only played in 4 games and had little impact, but team veterans and the head coaches all knew that Shankly would be one of the leaders of this team soon enough and needed to make sure he was happy.

This World Cup, we expect to see Shankly play all 10 matches in the round robin. He is hoping to have a much higher impact.

This season, Shankly proved that he is a dominant power-forward who can throw his body around but he has not shown much in the way of point production. This is something that he’ll need to work on if he is to be a team leader of the future.
