Earlier this morning, the Brampton Blades named Azi Ali their captain for the remainder of Season 36. While things haven't been going well for Brampton so far this season, the injection of some new, motivated blood seems to have turned the team towards progress. Azi Ali's debut came in a 10-0 loss to the Royals, a team with a much stronger roster than Brampton.

That did not disappoint the waiver claim though, who showed up for his home game debut, scoring two goals and three points in a 5-4 losing effort to the Royals. The performance by Ali gave him the first star of the game, showing that the player had quite the bright future in the VHLM.

"Azi Ali has been nothing but extremely positive since I spoke to him. When informed of the bleak performance of Brampton and the odds of winning a championship being slim, he still remained optimistic about coming to play for us. The attitude has been much more positive than expected and it's something that the Brampton locker room is in desperate need of, which is why we came to the decision to give him the captaincy. We expect the remainder of the season will be much better for Brampton than the beginning has been," said Brampton general manager Damon Wolfe.

Azi Ali will continue to play the on the top offensive line for Brampton until the S37 VHLM Dispersal Draft.
