Devise 4,475
VHLM Season 54 is underway, and probably happy that people feel the need to cover and talk about it. That said the league has been the biggest one note story in history. The Las Vegas Aces Superteam has gone undefeated through 16 games played. Every other team has even played a game extra than them, not that it makes much of a difference who plays where at this point in the season. No other team has managed even 10 wins yet, with the Ottawa Lynx in 2nd with only 8. Half as many wins as Vegas. Last season we had a bit of wonder even if Ottawa was a very strong team, right now there is no wonder. Vegas are the Harlem Globetrotters, and competition alltogether has been thrown out the window. That said because of the overall stacked roster on Vegas and how well everyone is doing, could an MVP candidate come from one of the other five teams? Verner Reinholdt of the Oslo Storm is beginning to show signs that he may be a candidate. Oslo has only won six games this season, but Reinholdt currently leads the team in a lot of important areas. He has 19 points in 17 games, most notably 12 goals, which puts him well ahead of any other teammate. The team itself has only scored 38 goals, which means Reinholdt alone has scored over 31% of the teams goals. He also has 3 game winners to his credit, and has been first star four times. Despite him beginning to break out of his shell this season, Oslo has continued to struggle. A big issue all the other teams face is the combination of depth, starpower, and overall elite level player that Vegas brings to the table. It is essentially unmatchable. When asked about his season, and the possibility that he could be MVP Verner had the following to say. Quote Well I mean I've scored some goals. But it's tough scoring a few goals and then still losing y'know? And it's not fault of our own in some cases. A lot of us are dealing with the David vs Goliath situation brewing with Vegas. And then we still have to be on the ball every other night against each other. We need to be more consistent though, and while I think that sure I've been having more of a breakout this season than say last, what matters is the wins. For better or worse this is where we are, this is what we are dealing with, and we need to find a way to rise to the challenge. It's a long season, and a long playoffs, I'm sure Vegas is going to feel good and comfortable. But we are gunning to knock them down a peg, and I'd love to be involved with that process as a player. Whether that makes me MVP candidate or not is not my concern.
