A Batch of New Wild Faces

It's been a busy week for Saskatoon Wild GM Shawn Gretzky.

SASKATOON -- A Wild team that has already been considered a championship contender this year, has seen a recent import of new young talent within the last week. WIld fans will have to familiarize themselves with the names of Daring Do, Jake Scheel, Les Clarke, and Ryan Hamilton. Since the arrival of these four players, the team has won four out of their last seven games in high scoring fashion.

A team lead by star player Bo Boeser, the new crop of forwards in Do, Scheel, and Clarke, has provided some much needed offensive support.  The team lacking in defensive depth, Ryan Hamilton provides a solid defensive partner for offensive defenseman Trazan Apansson.

Daring Do has shown her offensive capabilities in the early going in her seven games with the Wild so far. Leading the rookies with 11 points in seven games. Scheel, a two-way center, has impressed as well with seven points in seven games. Clarke, a power forward, is off to a slower start with four points, and the blueliner Hamilton has two assists. The offensive support from the group has given the Wild a second place position in the VHLM thus far.

The forward group will be looking to the guidance of Bo Boeser, who has had quite the stellar season so far. Nearly producing two points per game, his 46 points in 24 games places him in second overall in scoring. Only Les Clarke has been placed on the same line as Boeser. However Daring Do and Scheel sharing the second line responsibilities on the team has proven to be doing wonder for both players offensively.

The arrival of these new fresh faces has not taken long for the Wild home arena to be decorated in their likeness and memorabilia. Jerseys have been selling off the racks in the result of the winning results. "We like where we are right now," said winger Les Clarke. "But we know we can be better. We want to keep winning games and be the team to give Las Vegas their first loss. We think we're capable," he added.

All of these four rookies are eligible for the upcoming VHL Entry Draft, with Scheel and Clarke projected to go in the first round, followed by Do and Hamilton, according to recent early scouting reports. With plenty of time left in the season, it is possible that all four players find a way to go in the first round. It'll be a huge testament to the talent being developed in Saskatoon this season. GM Shawn Gretzky may be looking to add one more piece to the puzzle that could potentially push this team even further and plant doubt into early predictions of a Las Vegas championship season. Whether or not that happens, he should be happy with the changes made so far.
