Corco 1,237
Boner Position: Defense Height: 6'4" Weight: 200 lbs. Number: 12 Birthplace: Brussels, Belgium Boner is a prototypical shutdown defender whose game should easily translate well to the VHLM and eventually the VHL. His main weaknesses are the offensive aspects of his game, but he has never been known as a huge scorer, he's more someone who shuts up, rather than puts up. Look for Boner to be a late 1st round pick in the S57 VHL draft; he looks to be a possible 1st pairing shutdown defender in the future, although teams may shy away from him due to his lack of offensive abilities. Strengths Checking - Boner LOVES checking out other players to see if they're worthy for him to pound or not. If they are, there's no stopping Boner; he delivering absolutely punishing slams from all directions, left, right, up, and down. Every time he makes contact with an opposing player the impact is jarring, and is felt by every female in the entire rink. Defense - GRINDING. That's what Boner is all about; he is just a tenacious defender; sticking awkwardly close to the player he's covering. He literally gets as close as possible to them, practically getting inside them, and shuts them DOWN. Once Boner sees an opposing player trying to enter his area, he uses that big stick of his to show them whose boss. Leadership - Boner is 100% a guy you wanna have in the locker room; I mean c'mon, who wouldn't want a Boner in their locker room? Teammates of Boner in the past have said that they wish Boner could be with them at all times, even off the rink. Boner is also without a doubt someone you want around to mentor the local at-risk-youth in the area, as they are so easily impressionable. Being with Boner gives them something to look up to. Weaknesses Scoring - Despite all assumptions based on name, Boner is not the greatest scorer. He lacks the finesse and offensive acumen of a scoring defender. Boner tries his hardest to score every game, although it appears that the hockey gods are jealous and spite him. Boner is not exactly a player who want you want out on the ice in the final minute of a game when you need to score a goal. Passing - Not only is Boner quite selfish, but he's also quite a terrible passer. He certainly isn't someone you want making the breakout passes from the defensive zone to start the rush. He struggles to make tape to tape passes to teammates and even then, he would rather keep the puck himself and try to score all by himself. Puck Handling - Simply put, Boner handles the puck like a grenade. It doesn't take an expert to see that the reason for this is due to the fact that Boner simply uses an absolutely HUGE stick. Boner has done this since his pee-wee days, so it's extremely unlikely to change. The day Boner uses a small stick will be the day the Vasteras Iron Eagles return to the VHL.
