Daring Do Sees VHL Success

Toronto has started the season strong with a nice 4-0 out of the gate as the Legion sit atop the VHL early

The Toronto Legion have seen nothing but success as they start out season 59 with the kind of success that any team would be jealous of. With a nice 4-0 through four games played, the Legion have found the chemistry that alluded them the previous season as the team hopes their turnaround from last season will be swift. A big part of this turnaround has been the addition of rookies Dexter Lane, Aackckqz Ky, Verner Reinholdt, Bo Boeser, Daring Do, and the recently acquired AK47.

Daring Do joined the Legion after just two season with the Saskatoon Wild. Drafted the offseason prior, she was thought to be a risky pick in her draft class. Even so, while projected to go at 14th overall she jumped three spots in the draft to be taken by the Toronto Legion with the first pick of the second round - 11th overall. Since then she worked to make a name for herself in the VHLM as she played alongside Jake Scheel and Gabriel McAllister as well as defender Ay Ay Ron for the Saskatoon Wild and won the cup at the season's end. But when the year came to a close, she moved on to the next step of her career - the VHL and the Toronto Legion, and it remained to be seen what that would mean for her career.

As it turns out, it's meant good things. Through four games played she's already notched 3 goals (including a recent two goal game) and an assist on Toronto's second line. Sporting a +10 with 10 hits, her numbers have been strong for a rookie, and while her numbers obviously can't compete with the likes of Calgary's Felix Savard, they're still a good sign that her two-way style of play is going to translate well to the VHL despite having to make the jump to what is a much faster and more skilled style of gameplay than she was used to seeing down in the VHL.

So what should we expect to see from Daring Do as the season (and her career) move forward? It's hard to say. Her hits total is certainly lower than we might have expected to see based on what we saw in our second VHLM season, but at the same time she's scoring at a much faster pace than we saw in the VHLM - potentially in part due to not having to play alongside McAllister anymore. But what's for certain is that if she continues to work in practice, she could have one hell of a career in front of her.

Luckily for you, there's an error in the sim for some reason. Boeser, Reinholdt and Savard aren't rookies. :P

In fact, most of that Top 10 aren't even rookies....Savard, Boeser, Reinholdt, Trombone, Fujimoto, Jokinen, etc.

My plans for world domination are moving along quite well.

Review: Nice to see a steal out of the 11th overall pick in a rather shallow S55 class. You have a good young core building up in Toronto that is only going to get better with another pick this season. Good luck in Toronto, wish you the same as with Team World this past offseason in the juniors.
