It's likely one of the most prestigious awards that a player can win aside from capturing a championship with his team. To be crowned the champion of all players in the league, that has to earn you some respect. It goes to show that you, at that time, the best player to tie their laces up and skate on that ice. You may not have been it last year or the year before, you may not be it next year or ever again, but for that season there wasn't a single person in the world better than you. Of course, this could be for numerous reasons. You're a huge player to th league and have scored the most goals, broke records, got a crazy amount of points, played amazing on a struggling team or back stopped your team to some crazy wins as you earned an exceptional save percentage and shut out amount. In the VHL, it seems we're never short of these players. Looking at the statistics for the season, this once again plays true.

Franchise Cornerstone - HSK:hel:

He has 41 goals in 44 games. Let's also remember that last year he was a really good player too. Though he is playing on an amazing team and one can always wonder that this always LARGELY contributes to the players well being, Cornerstone is easily the most dominant player on his organization. Axelsson is right behind him, but after those two, there's a dramatic cut off when it comes to productions. With his 81 points through the season so far, it's very possible for him to potentially break some goal scoring records this year and land above 130 points. We do think he will simmer off and fall within the 59-64 goal range.

Diana Maxwell - DAV:dav:

Goal scoring is what she does best. A couple years ago she was making names for having crazy seasons and once again we find her doing the exact same thing. Tied with Cornerstone on the season for goals, Maxwell is also on 4 points off being tied for points too with 77 on the year. One argument some will make for Cornerstone over Maxwell is that Cornerstone is younger and is going a majority of the work on his team without a good portion of help that Maxwell has on her roster. This gap though, could be the deciding factor which allows Maxwell to push forward and TRUMP Cornerstone for the award.

Essian Ravenwing - RIG:rig:

Goals may not be his forte like it is for Maxwell and Cornerstone, but points always have been. From his days with New York to his days with Riga, he's always been an extremely fun player to watch. This year is no difference as he leads Riga and the entire league for points (well, he's actually tied in first). With 82 points on the season (29G, 53 A, 82 PTS), it's safe to say he's one of the stronger candidates for MVP. Honestly, I'm still surprised Riga is doing as good as they are, and then you look at the roster and see the names "King" and "Ravenwing" and everything makes sense.

Lukas Muller - QUE:que:

I'm almost certain I took a gamble on Muller and took him in my VHL Fantasy League. If this is the case, I'm extremely happy I did. Remember that person who was tied with Ravenwing for 1st for points on the year? That's Muller. 33 goals, 49 assists and 82 points has him sharing the crown with Riga's Ravenwing for top spot for points throughout the Season 56 campaign. With almost double points than games played, it's been a really fun time for the Meute fans in Quebec to watch hockey. Question is - will he be able to play like this for th rest of the season? We're going to say 87% yess. There will be on and off, but for th most part, expect him to stride to the finish line and make a good argument for MVP.

Markus King - RIG:rig:

I've reached my 600 words, but didn't feel right leaving this article without adding in Rhett Degrath or Markus King. Either one can honestly contend for the MVP rights and honestly, both deserve it just as much as the players listed above. So when you read Markus King here, also read DeGrath because I'm lazy. However, King has the edge in my eyes for the award as I don't feel Riga is as strong. If Riga continues to triumph their way to playoffs, I'm saying he's their best player.

12 (donations 1/2) for Forsberg
