Laflamme 376
Only a few moments ago a new Russian superstar arrived into the world of the VHL. Right winger Sergei Kovalev has always had one dream, that dream is to dominate in the Victory Hockey League. It is long over due but he is finally that much closer to his dream. In due time Kovalev will be joining the VHLM and one of it’s amazing franchises. Every eighteen year old dreams of this moment. After years and years of pushing himself with personal trainers, teammates and coaches Kovalev feels he has what it takes. In Russia, Sergei played in the KHL for the Ak Bars. On the Bars, Sergei played a total of 82 regular season games. In those games he managed to score 62 goals and tallying 33 apples. Totaling 95 points. The city of Ak looked at Sergei Kovalev as a gift from the hockey gods. From the beginning the city of Ak had high hopes for Kovalev to succeed. Without any sweat he managed to live up to the cities expectations. This helped Kovalev gain experience in the spotlight, which will help him in his new league and on his new team. No one ever wants to let there city down that is for sure and Kovalev definitely did not want to be known as that guy. When Sergei Kovalev was coming off the airplane we managed to stop him for a few questions. The first question we asked Sergei was how excited he was to finally be here, and how he was handling all the nerves? Without hesitation he answered “ I feel like I am dreaming, waiting to wake up and realize it is all too good to be true. To be honest I have very nervous, but in a good way. You guys may not see it, but when I was younger I was taught to hide it. “ Our reporter was surprised, at such a young age Sergei was already answering questions so professionally. Our reporter then followed up his previous question with another, asking Kovalev if there were any VHLM teams that he had interest in playing for. His response was simple but precise. “ I will honestly play anywhere that would be happy enough to have me on their roster. I know I will end up somewhere and where ever that is, I am going to play my heart out there.” Sergei told us “I just can not wait to get into the league and show everyone what I can do!” Sergei Kovalev has a great mentor to help coach him through his career, @Banackock. Banackock has a lot of experience in the VHL and Kovalev feels that he is the perfect guy to lead him to greatness. Before Sergei came from Russia he did his research on Banackock. Xavier Laflamme was the last player under Banackock’s belt and he was a pretty outstanding player in his final year with the Seattle Bears during their cup run, and that spiked Kovalev’s interest.
