After falling further than he predicted in the VHLM draft forward Matt Thompson of the Ottawa Lynx is looking toward the future instead of the past.

“Obviously I did expect to get picked up earlier but I’m not going to dwell on it. We have built ourselves a very strong team in Ottawa and I think we have a very legitimate shot this season of getting ourselves a Founder’s Cup"

If Ottawa can manage that feat Thompson’s name will be engraved on the cup for already a second time after he signed late last season with the powerhouse Yukon Rush. If pre-season is any indication it should be doable. The Lynx went 5-0-2 in the pre-season; with their only losses coming to Las Vegas. While they have started 1-1-0 in the Regular season the team believes that they can get their lines sorted out and get some good chemistry going.

“Our team chemistry is amazing in practice; we just have to find that right combination come game time and stick to it. The VHLM has more competition this season than it has seen in a long time so there’s a lot of teams gunning for wins right now. It won’t be an easy season but I’m expecting it to be a good one."

So far Thompson has managed a point and an assist in 2 games. Nothing to write home about but matching his production from the end of the regular season and all of the playoffs last year.
