Commissioner Beketov 9,140 Posted April 20, 2018 Commissioner Share Posted April 20, 2018 After falling further than he predicted in the VHLM draft forward Matt Thompson of the Ottawa Lynx is looking toward the future instead of the past. “Obviously I did expect to get picked up earlier but I’m not going to dwell on it. We have built ourselves a very strong team in Ottawa and I think we have a very legitimate shot this season of getting ourselves a Founder’s Cup" If Ottawa can manage that feat Thompson’s name will be engraved on the cup for already a second time after he signed late last season with the powerhouse Yukon Rush. If pre-season is any indication it should be doable. The Lynx went 5-0-2 in the pre-season; with their only losses coming to Las Vegas. While they have started 1-1-0 in the Regular season the team believes that they can get their lines sorted out and get some good chemistry going. “Our team chemistry is amazing in practice; we just have to find that right combination come game time and stick to it. The VHLM has more competition this season than it has seen in a long time so there’s a lot of teams gunning for wins right now. It won’t be an easy season but I’m expecting it to be a good one." So far Thompson has managed a point and an assist in 2 games. Nothing to write home about but matching his production from the end of the regular season and all of the playoffs last year.
