Most Surprising/Disappointing Draft Picks Since I've Been Here Pt.5

Recommended Posts

Season 46

Most Surprising: Niels Skovgaard, 10th Overall. After two less than remarkable players in Jack Mason and Jose Canseco, Skovgaard finished with the fourth most TPE in this class and 576 points in 504 games, along with winning the Alexander Beketov award in S52.

Most Disappointing: Olivia Diamond, 8th Overall. It took Sean Blacker (3rd Overall) until his fourth season of eligibility to make the VHL and Saul Hackett (7th Overall) never updated after being drafted, but Diamond retired after just one very unproductive 29 point season.

Season 47

Most Surprising: Sir William Covington III, 4th Overall. This draft class is one of the weaker ones in recent memory and while Covington was one of the better players leading into this draft, his excellent performance (3 Cups, 612 points in 504 games, most TPE for a Robbie player and most TPE in this draft class) exceeded expectations.

Most Disappointing: Artom Zhumbayev, 2nd Overall. Finished his career with only 400 TPE, not good enough for a starting goalie for a competing team and was constantly shifted around the rebuilding teams.
