So I see this is a pseudo-theme week, with a proper one to follow next week. I may actually write a media spot next week to make this point in a larger context, but for now I'll just posit my thoughts here.

 

Why does this league need so many leagues?

 

Seriously...for the longest time it was simply the VHL (obviously) and the VHLM (out of necessity), with the World Cup happening every two years to throw something different into things and to simulate international competitions. That's all fine, but now we're adding in World Juniors and the Sponsor's Shield? Were two full leagues and one bi-seasonal competition not enough?

 

I was given the opportunity to compete in the World Juniors last season, but I declined because the whole enterprise seems overwrought and unnecessary to me, especially given the irregular simming schedule that crops up from time to time. Why do we need World Juniors and the Sponsor's Shield (which is even more ridiculous, but that's for another time)? I can forgive the World Cup, but is it so important to force the pointless concept of international play in a sim league that we have to start throwing it at new players right out of the gate?

 

That said, I'm barely here anymore. I stand behind everything I said, but I could care less who cares. I'm just here for the TPE.
