Crosby: A Season By The Numbers

After being drafted 4^th overall, something no one had predicted, Crosby had some high expectations from both the fans and himself. He wasn’t drafted by a playoff team but rather a team on the up, with some talented youth and draft picks a plenty. Crosby wanted to make a little bit of a splash this season but he never expected to lead the league in a category. With almost no defensive help the first half of the season Crosby was able to put up a league leading 267 shots blocked, a whopping 68 more than 2^nd place. This total is going to be good enough to get him 8^th most hits in one season ever. Speaking of making it on the alltime records list, he landed the 3^rd and 4^th most minute played in a game with 39:15 and 39:11 minutes played. He also displayed his physical prowess with 7^th best 271 hits. Needless to say, this season has taken a toll on his body and will get some much-needed rest this offseason.

 

After starting off the first half of the season at a point a game average he slowed down a bit in the scoring department. Crosby squeaked in the top ten of rookie scoring at 10^th with 56 points. The points breaking down into 10 goals and 46 assists with 2 of those goals being game winners. He isn’t really concerned much about his scoring as he loves to focus on his defensive stats but its hard to deny the joy of tallying a point to help propel your team to victory.

 

While it was disappointing to not make the playoffs his first year, Crosby looks forward to next season and all the new talent the Titans are going to bring in. The future looks bright for Crosby and the Titans.
