SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN -- A few days ago the Wild were sitting comfortably, waiting for their games with a glimmer in their eyes as the regular season reached an unexpected conclusion. The club had a game in hand over the Rush, capable and confident they'd be able to secure the conference, but disappointment was all they found. Unfortunately, their quest for the 'just within reach' conference championship was ultimately fruitless as Saskatoon dropped the final two games of their season - and although they earned a point in an overtime loss - they needed two wins in a row to secure the top position.

"Last two games didn't go as we anticipated," Peace admitted. "I wouldn't say we're overly disappointed. Did we expect to win the conference? Yeah, we were a pretty confident group, but this setback is something we're drawing motivation from in the locker room. The main purpose of those games was to give the newest members of the Wild more minutes, get them prepared for a grueling playoff schedule against some talented teams."

"Trepanier was also playing alongside Gebauer on the second line, kinda our own season ending experiment. I think it went well, honestly, they were producing."

The Saskatoon Wild finished the regular season with a 49-20-3 record, good for 101 points - three points out of first place.
